Class of 1991

Did you know...?

  • 165 students graduated in the class of 1991: 14 with doctors of philosophy degrees; 23 with master of science degrees; 128 with medical degrees.
  • The commencement address was given by Jack L. Strominger, MD, Higgins Professor of Biochemistry at Harvard University.
  • The members of the class of 1991 had some of the following residency positions: Beth Israel Medical Center; University of Toronto; Geisinger Medical Center; Rhode Island Hospital; Baystate Medical Center; Mt. Sinai Hospital; Boston University Hospital.

 Class of 1995

Did you know...?

  • 175 students graduated from Albany Medical College in 1995.  Ten received Ph.D.’s, 35 received MS degrees, and 130 received MD degrees.
  • The 165th Commencement Exercises for the class of 1995 were held at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts.
  • The commencement address for the 165th Commencement Exercises was given by David A. Kessler, M.D., Commissioner of the United States Food and Drug Administration from 1990-1997.

Class of 1996

Did you know...?

  • 170 students (medical and graduate) graduated in the class of 1996.
  • The commencement ceremonies for the class of 1996 were held at Seiji Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood in Lenox, Massachusetts.
  • The class of 1996 was the first class with 55% women.

 Class of 2000

(Albany Medical Center 1997)

Class Size: 125 students graduated from the class of 2000 with medical degrees, 3 with PhD’s, and 35 with MS degrees                                                                                                            

 Required Courses at the College (a sample is given): Cell and Molecular Biology, Nutrition, Cardiovascular System, Disease and Defense, Health Care and Society, Reproductive and Dev. Biology, Neurosciences, Infectious Disease, Musculoskeletal System, Gastrointestinal System

 Pop Culture:  U2’s “Beautiful Day” was at the top of the music charts and the top movie in the box office was Mission Impossible II.


  • The rap-metal band Rage Against the Machine plays in front of Wall Street, prompting an early closing of trading due to the crowds.
  • Madeleine Albright holds talks with North Korean dictator Kim Jong II.


Class of 2001

 Did you know...?

  • A total of 166 students graduated in the class of 2001:  93 men and 73 women.  
  • Lori Arviso Alvord, MD, Associate Dean for Student and Minority Affairs and Assistant Professor of Surgery at Dartmouth Medical School gave the commencement address for the class of 2001.
  • The members of the class of 2001 had some of the following residencies: Brown University School of Medicine; Mount Sinai School of Medicine; Duke University Medical Center; Mercy Hospital and Medical Center; Tufts-New England Medical Center.
